“Busting Out of the 4 Walls! What’s new in Library Staff Training?”
Do our rapidly-changing libraries require new ways of training staff? You bet! Come discuss best practices, trends, and new ideas in providing staff training outside of the classroom. Facilitators will provide short overviews of new training trends. Participants’ interests and experiences will be explored and could include webinars and available products/resources; online courses and tutorials; and web 2.0 tools and social networking.
Justification: With such service changes as roaming reference and embedded librarians, as well as new technologies and fiscal realities, public library staff members learning opportunities need to be innovative, accessible and motivating.
Facilitation Questions: How is your library implementing non-classroom learning options for staff?
What best practices and new ideas would you like to share?
How have these new training options impacted staff learning in your library?
